Created for Dominion

God intended man to have dominion over everything He created.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Genesis 1:26 ESV

Get a vision for the kind of dominion God has in mind for you.

“The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.”
Psalm 110:1-5 ESV
“Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all his godly ones. Praise the Lord!”
Psalms 149:1-9 ESV

What are we to have dominion over?

1. The flesh - We aren’t to let sin have dominion over us.

“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”
Psalm 119:133 ESV

“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
Romans 6:14 ESV

2. Take dominion over this world and its influence.

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:13-14 ESV

3. Take dominion over the devil and his powers - learning to stand in the authority of the believer.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 ESV

“Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come."”
Daniel 10:12-14 ESV

We cannot truly walk in the dominion granted us if we are not fully “All In.”

You have to burn the ship.

The will of God is a mystery you discover throughout your life, but as Author Mark Batterson writes, “Your destiny is a decision.  And you are only one decision away from a totally different life.”
