Living a life of Faith

Achieving your moment of greatness will require you to leave

Jesus was led by the Spirit, into the wilderness.

Abraham had to leave.

"The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you." Genesis 12:1

God is always trying to get us to leave where we are, to take us to where He wants us to be.

Some of you need to leave your comfort zone.

But the devil will whisper in your ear, “You can’t do it.”

Three Reasons People Don’t Leave:

1. People live by sight and not by faith.

"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going." Hebrews 11:8
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

The enemy will whisper in your ear, “You don’t have what it takes,” and he is right. we don’t.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony." Hebrews 11:1-2
"This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith." 1 John 5:4

2. People have a fear of failure.

When God speaks to us, our job is to leave where we are to go to where God wants us to be; not to succeed.

Sometimes He will lead you right into the Valley of Achor; into trouble.

"Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. And there I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt." Hosea 2:14-15

3. People don't really trust God with their future.

Right now, some of you need to leave where you are

God is saying, “There’s more I want to do through your life.”

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? …So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:25-33

That's the kicker. "Seek first..."

When God says leave, He always gives you a promise.

The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you." I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him.Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.” Genesis 12:1-4

Every time God has done something great through my life, it’s always required me to leave.

What is God asking you to leave?
