Worry and Fear

“So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin that holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.
Hebrews 12:1 GNT

Life is much happier and joyous when we empty its backpack of non-essentials.

Jesus identified “the stuff” that makes us unfruitful.

“And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.”
Mark 4:18-19 ESV

“The cares of the world,” - Worry and Fear.

Worry and fear are blinders.

“Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down.”
Proverbs 12:25 ESV

Jesus told His disciples that in the end times, fear would overwhelm some to the point of their hearts failing them.

“Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.”
Luke 21:26 KJV

But we have a remedy: Jesus told us to cast all our anxieties and cares on Him.

“Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

Seven Ways to Cast Your Cares on Jesus

1. Cast your cares by meditating and filling your minds with the right things.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Philippians 4:8

2. Cast your cares by stopping worried thoughts before they start.

“We take captive every thought.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

3. Cast your cares by replacing worry with the Word.

“Meditate on the Word day and night.”
Joshua 1:8

“think on whatever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report. “If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Philippians 4:8 KJV

4. Cast your cares by humbling yourself under His mighty hand.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV

5. Cast your cares by Wearing All Your Armor

“Put on the whole armor of God.”
Ephesians 6:11 NKJV

“clearheaded, wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.”
1 Thessalonians 5:8

6. Cast Your Cares by Finding a Faith Partner.

“Encourage one another and build one another up.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV

7. Cast your cares by the only one good solution to worry and fear, give it to God.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NLT
