Introduction

This week Pastor Craig discussed that we want to establish how God is the righteous Judge, and since He is in control – the absolute sovereign; then this means that God is all-powerful.  The argument many make against a God that is omnipotent, all-powerful, is that if God is omnipotent, then His creation would be perfect. “If God is all-powerful,why does evil exist?” Evil in the world does not negate the fact that God is all-powerful. A world without the ability to choose is a world without true Love.

Discussion Questions

1. What is a task you’ve felt or would feel ill-equipped to do on your own?

2. How would you most likely react in such a situation: ask someone for help, Google it or watch a YouTube video, give up, press on without outside help figuring your effort will be “good enough”?

3. Why do we sometimes forge ahead in our own power or ability instead of asking for the help we need?

4. How does your perspective about the challenges you face change when you consider the character and promises of God?

5. How can this group help you look to and rely on the Lord for success in crossing the mountain you’re currently facing?

6. The power of God and your commitment to trusting and joining Him in His purposes are complementary. What steps can you take to remember and rest in the fact that the Lord is the one who will ultimately turn your situation around?

Moving Forward

When Christ-followers begin to wrongly believe they can wield His power in all of life’s circumstances, a future true crisis is brewing. Many have shipwrecked their faith over this issue. Mad at God because He didn’t do what they command Him to do! Can you see how crazy this gets? Remember: He is the Potter and we are the clay.

Changing your Mind

He is all-powerful, that brings me great comfort! He is well able to keep us no matter what may come, He empowers me to join Him in pushing back the darkness. I can share in the triumph that is His. But I must always remember my place in humble submission to Christ.

Prayer

Thank God that He is not done with you yet. Thank Him for calling you to play a role in His kingdom purposes even now, in this time and place. Thank Him for His unlimited supply of power available to you as you abide in Jesus Christ and rely on the Holy Spirit.
