Introduction

In this week’s sermon Pastor Craig discussed with us the sovereignty of God. When we look around at the evil in the world, corrupt leaders, wars, riots, pandemics, famines, innocent people dying; it is so easy to ask the question – “Is God in control?”

Discussion Questions

1. What is one area of life you feel like you always have to be in control of? Why?

2. Would those around you call you a control freak?

3. When is a time when you feel most out of control?

4. Have a volunteer read Psalm 115. What phrases in this psalm speak to God’s sovereignty, His control of our world and our lives?

5. Does the fact that God is sovereign scare you? Why or why not?

6. What evidence of God’s sovereign love and grace can you point to in your life?

7. Recall a time in your life when you doubted God’s control, but later you realized how He had been working in your life all along.

8. How can today’s passages help you recognize God’s love for you?

Moving Forward

Romans 8:28 promises that “In all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Not only is God sovereign, but He is also All-knowing, everywhere present, and all-powerful. He knows what we are going through, He is there with us in our troubles, He has the power to deliver us, Therefore, we can know he is in control.

Changing Your Mind

Psalms 32:8 NLT “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” We can worship God because He rescues us, provides for us and leads us. Last week we learned that God is good, and all the time God is good. This week we learned that He is indeed in control and that is a comforting thought!! But we must choose Him.
