Hope

Love Came as Well

A star in the sky signaled Hope had come to a condemned world. Wise men today still seek Him and find a hope that can conqueror all! This hope doesn't travel alone. In this series, we are going to examine some of its traveling companions.

Introduction

A star in the sky signaled Hope had come to a condemned world. Wise men today still seek Him and find a hope that can conqueror all! Hope does not travel alone. How we respond to the information we have about Jesus determines what impact He has on our lives. When Hope came, Love came as well. Love is Hope’s traveling companion. Love regards others as more important.

Discussion Questions

(The goal is to grow in our relationship with Christ and each other. It is ok if you don’t cover every question.)

1. Name three ways you’ve heard the word love used this past week.

2. What do those uses of the word reveal about the way people typically view love?

3. How might our culture define love differently than God?

4. Have a volunteer read1 Corinthians 13:11-13. One of the things we should do in love is to expect growth. What does spiritual growth look like for a Christian?

5. Why is growing spiritually one of the effects of God’s love?

6. When you look at your own spiritual growth, are you encouraged or discouraged right now? Why?

7. What is one relationship in which you need to add love this week? How are you going to do that?

Moving Forward

With the hope that the star brought, came a love that is concerned for all. No onehas been excluded. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall be saved.” John 3:16 This holiday season, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:18 Together let’s all consider others as more important than ourselves.

Changing Your Mind

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT

Prayer

Pray to close your group, thanking Him that He showed us what love is at the cross. Ask God to help you this week to remember His love for you so that you can add love to your relationships.
